H.E. Hocine Sahraoui, Ambassador of Algeria to Korea delivered a special lecture which is hosted by the Korea-Arab Society and supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 5 June 2014 at Myongji University. The Ambassador began the lecture with the introduction of diverse history background of Algeria. As Algeria is located by the Mediterranean, Algeria accepted various cultures throughout history. He mentioned that Algeria was also once a colony just like Korea and that Algeria and Korea are similar in a way. The Ambassador then talked about how Algeria has started the democratic system without rapid social change in modern days. He also mentioned, even though it is an Arab country, the National Assembly of Algeria is composed of 35% women members and seven women ministers are currently outstanding in the field of politics. After the lecture, Q&A and discussion session was carried out with students who showed great interested in Arab democracy.
