Korea-Arab Society (KAS) officially appointed the Korean idol group B.I.G, which is gaining great popularity in the Arab world, as the foundation’s Goodwill Ambassador (Goodwill Ambassador for KAS) on 15 October (Friday).

At the ceremony which was held at the COEX Startup Branch in Seoul, B.I.G was appointed by Christopher Koo, Chairman of the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) who is also President of Korea-Arab Society (KAS).

Korea-Arab Society, which is implementing exchanges and network building projects in various fields to expand comprehensive cooperative relations between Korea and the Arab world, reflects the Arab region’s high affinity for B.I.G and plans to carry out various activities together to promote cultural exchange and friendship between Korea and the Arab world.

B.I.G, which debuted in 2014, conducted a ‘global cover project’ by posting various Arab song cover videos on their social networks. In December 2019, in recognition of their contribution to promoting K-pop in the Arab region, they were awarded the ‘Awards for Koreans Enhancing National Prestige.’

In particular, B.I.G released an Arabic version of the album for the first time as a K-pop group responding to their steady popularity in the Arab world. In August, they showed their global influence by participating in an online linve concert for Arab audiences hosted by Korea-Arab Society (KAS).

B.I.G expressed its ambition to play a leading role in Korea-Arab cultural exchange with this appointment as a Goodwill Ambassador.
