Korea-Arab Society organised a special lecture for students for Department of International Studies at Ewha Womans University on 18 November 2016. Mr Elias Nicolas, Charge d’Affaires a.i. of Lebanon to Korea was invited to deliver the lecture and talked about social and religious conflicts, cultural diversity, history, political affairs, constitution and terrorism policy of Lebanon. The theme of the lecture was about “Lebanon Plualism: Lessons & Challenges”.
His lecture included providing information against prejudices students previously had on Lebanon such as thinking Lebanon as a Muslim country whereas 50% of the population consists of Christian and other diverse ethnic groups coexist. He also talked about security issue with the Israel and the Palestinian and Syrian refugee status in Lebanon.
During Q&A session, students enthusiastically asked questions on various issues such as Lebanese women’s rights, populism, conflicts with Israel and about Palestine and Syria.
