Special Lecture by Ambassador of Oman held at Dongguk Univ. 2015-06-16



Special lecture Series by Arab Diplomatic Corps hosted by Korea-Arab Society was held on 11 June 2015 at the Dongguk Hall in the Dongguk University. H.E. Mohamed Alharthy, Ambassador of Oman to Korea was invited to deliver a lecture under the theme of 'the Cultural and Historical Heritage of Oman' to the students from department of International Trade. He brought speech about Oman as the hub for maritime trading routes which connected silk road all the way to Kingdom of Silla 1,500 years ago and as the hometown of Sindbad the sailor from the famous tales of the One Thousand and One Nights. He then mentioned about the exhibition 'Tolerance, Understanding and Coexistence: Oman's Message of Islam' in Busan, explaining how Oman is open and respectful to other religions. He also talked about Oman's spectacular natures, not only deserts but also mountains, valleys and seaside. After the lecture, Q&A session was carried out with students who showed great interests in Oman's diplomatic relations with the surrounding countries and gender equality in Oman. Prior to the lecture, the Ambassador had a meeting with Prof. Kim Yang-woo, Dean of International Affairs to discuss about academic exchange and education cooperation between Dongguk University and Oman's universities. He also donated 38 books of Oman to Dongguk University students to get to know more about Oman.
